Public Art Announced for Kitchener indoor recreation centre!

A glimpse of what’s to come.

We’re excited to share that renowned Indigenous artist Jackie Traverse has been commissioned to create a permanent 95-square-metre tile mosaic for the Kitchener recreation centre.

Her work, Gidinawendimin – Anishinaabe for “we are all related” – celebrates the connection between women and water, and speaks to themes of kinship, resilience, and healing.

As this community hub takes shape, the mosaic will become part of its heart, welcoming more than half a million people in its first year and reminding us that architecture is never just about buildings, but about the stories and connections they hold.
