GTHS David and Helen Capin Regional Centre for Pets and People Groundbreaking!

GTHS David and Helen Capin Regional Centre for Pets and People Groundbreaking!

Unity Design Studio was honoured to be on site yesterday as the Georgian Triangle Humane Society officially broke ground on the David and Helen Capin Regional Centre for Pets and People in Collingwood.

Envisioned as more than a shelter, the new Centre is designed as a place of healing and connection, where animals and people alike can thrive. Dogs will benefit from smaller, quieter pods with direct outdoor access. Cats will enjoy bright, daylight-filled rooms and space for enrichment. And the community will find gathering spaces that invite learning, sharing, and moments of joy.

When complete, this facility will provide five times more affordable veterinary surgeries, extend support to five times more families in crisis, and create countless opportunities for compassion to take root. From a child discovering empathy with a puppy in their arms, to a volunteer finding comfort in the company of cats, these are the everyday transformations this Centre will make possible.

After nearly nine years of collaboration, we’re proud to see this vision come to life with GTHS and to imagine the difference it will make—for more than 1,400 animals each year, and for the people who care for and love them.
